Hummus

Hummus – Chickpea Purée with Tahini

A creamy classic of Middle Eastern cuisine – ideal as a dip, spread, or side. Serves 1 portion.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can chickpeas (approx. 400–500 g)
  • 2 tbsp tahini
  • Juice of 3 lemons
  • 4 garlic cloves (pressed)
  • Neutral, mild oil as needed
  • 2 tbsp ground cumin (or more to taste)
  • 1 dried hot chili pepper (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp curry powder
  • Salt and white pepper to taste
  • Optional: hot paprika powder
  • 1 bunch parsley for garnish

Preparation:

  • 1. Drain and rinse the chickpeas in a sieve.
  • 2. Blend chickpeas with tahini, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, chili, and curry powder until smooth using a blender or immersion blender.
  • 3. Gradually add oil as needed to reach a creamy consistency.
  • 4. Season with salt and white pepper. Optionally mix in or sprinkle with paprika powder.
  • 5. Transfer to a bowl, garnish with chopped parsley, and drizzle with oil if desired.

Serve hummus with flatbread, veggie sticks, or as a flavorful side to Middle Eastern dishes.
