Palak Paneer
Palak Paneer – Indian Classic with Spinach and Cheese
A creamy, spiced dish made with fresh spinach and Indian cheese – perfect for 4 servings.
Ingredients:
Main Ingredients
- 300 g fresh spinach
- Salt to taste
- 1 thumb-sized piece of ginger
- 1 green chili
- 250 g paneer (Indian cheese)
- 3 tbsp ghee or oil
- 1 onion
- 5 garlic cloves
- 1 large tomato
- 1 bay leaf
Spices & Cream
- ½ tsp cumin seeds
- ½ tsp garam masala
- 3 tbsp cream
- 1 pinch of sugar
Preparation:
- 1. Wash the spinach thoroughly, chop roughly, and blanch briefly in boiling salted water. Drain and rinse with cold water.
- 2. Finely chop or blend the ginger, green chili, onion, garlic, and tomato.
- 3. Heat ghee or oil in a pan. Add bay leaf, cumin seeds, then sauté onion, garlic, and ginger until translucent.
- 4. Add tomatoes and green chili, and cook until the mixture thickens.
- 5. Add the blanched spinach, mix well, season with garam masala and a pinch of sugar. Let simmer briefly.
- 6. Cut paneer into cubes and lightly fry in a separate pan until golden brown.
- 7. Fold the paneer into the spinach mixture and stir in the cream. Warm through without boiling.
Serve Palak Paneer with fresh naan or basmati rice for an authentic Indian meal.
